CADPI leads the industry with advanced equipment for quality analysis and sugar conditioning
CADPI has purchased the DA 7200 Diode Array Analyzer as a substitute apparatus in eliminating the use of lead sub-acetate. The DA 7200 is fast; it performs multi-component analysis in 6 seconds and requires little to no sample preparation or cleanup after analysis. Easy handling and fast analysis significantly reduce workload during any given week. The speed increases lab output and frees operators for other tasks. Most critically, it provides information to monitor the entire process in essentially real-time.
The full run and shifting to the utilization of the DA 7200 in lieu of lead-based chemicals started in March 2011. Historically, lead sub-acetate usage is approximately 300kg per year but this year it significantly decreased to 100kg, with a total reduction of 33%.
The use of the DA 7200 Diode Array Analyzer prevents the following hazards: (1) disposal of empty plastic containers; (2) disposal of filter paper contaminated with lead residue; (3) storage and disposal of residues and washings; (4) exposure of personnel to lead. The use of such equipment also ensures only the highest standards for our consumers.
Caking of sugar can be a common issue with sugar customers under certain conditions. "Caking" is the change from a free flowing granular product to one containing agglomerated crystals or lumps. It is caused by the migration of moisture within the stored sugar across the crystals. Customers have a strong demand for a high quality, free flowing product devoid of "caking".
CADP is leading the industry with an advanced sugar conditioning process. The fundamental element of the process is the inclusion of a special conditioning silo at the end of the refinery drying stage. After the refined sugar leaves the drier, it enters a conditioning silo where filtered low humidity air is allowed to percolate through the stored sugar. This has the effect of extracting and stabilizing a substantial portion of the retained moisture on the surface and within the sugar crystal.
Once the sugar has been treated in this way, it remains free flowing provided it is not subjected to high levels of humidity. Conditioning ensures we can provide our customers with a high quality free-flowing product.
